New year, new steps but no denial,
Survival was more than chance, it was a trial.
Past was not kind, yet it marks the climb,
The distance traveled, and passage of time.
Scars on the body, endured through fear,
Through struggle and fight, we conquered the year.
Here’s to the battle we bravely chose,
Against all odds, we stood and we rose.

I absolutely love this. Completely different vibe than normal New year poem.
ReplyDeleteImpactful. “Survival was more than chance, it was a trial.” and “Against all odds, we stood and we rose.” Are doing the heavy lifting here.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition. Sad truth, no all had a joy ride in 2025.
ReplyDeleteThank You Shon Mehta! Here is to you, and your enchanting writing!
ReplyDeleteHear, hear!
ReplyDeleteI love how you write like a stylistic chameleon, shifting your approach depending on what the piece calls for. The way you move between such different styles keeps your writing fresh and unpredictable, which makes it so captivating to read. It gives you the freedom to dive into all kinds of themes—from raw emotional struggles to thoughtful explorations of wisdom—without being tied down to just one way of expressing yourself. That flexibility makes you a truly versatile author, able to connect with all sorts of readers and bring out so many different sides of the human experience.
ReplyDeleteI especially loved your story Priest of Vanpore. Misses really enjoys your Rough Hewn series & Poetry, and kiddo loves Tilis’ help. Wishing you all the best in your literary journey.
