My People

Some people are lucky, if they have one person in their life they can look up to, I lucked out in that matter. I have three -- my parents and my husband. They each helped me in a different way to reach my potential.

----

My Father

When you are starting out in the world, you need someone who believes in you. For me that was my father. He told me I have a potential. However, he didn't flatter me, or inflate my ego. Rather, he told me, I have to keep working towards my dreams. Thanks to him, I possess the quality that I am most proud of, " I am an eternal learner." Each day is a new opportunity to learn a new thing, and to better yourself.

My Mother

As a child while writing a speech for a competition, I asked my grandfather, "Who is the greatest fighter according to you?" I was expecting he would tell me about some historical figure. He surprised me by saying, "Your mother". As a child I found that funny. Now as a grown-up person, I totally agree with him. I haven't met too many people, who has faced an economical, physical, and emotional turmoil similar to my mother. She not only survived all that, but actually became a support system to people around her. My mother is my definition of a grit.

My Husband

I am not a person who gets impressed by others easily. However, since the day I married my husband, I am in awe of my husband. He is one of the brightest person I know. When I look at him, I wonder, "How can someone can be so intelligent, so accomplished, and still so humble?". He has taught me, how to keep working towards things you believe in, and let your work speak for you.

Nowadays I started to realize not everyone has a people like this in their lives, and I just wanted to give my people a shout out. Thank you!
